Asparagus officinalis
Great perennial, heritage plants that produce crisp, tender asparagus shoots.
The vegetable asparagus grows as a deciduous, perennial, herbaceous plant and brings gardening pleasure for many years. From the root system it sprouts fleshy, juicy shoots that can be harvested white under the ground or as green asparagus above the ground. In the beginning, the young plants can be sown quite densely (20 x 10 cm). In the second year, they are placed in a trench about 40 cm deep and initially covered with only 10 cm of soil. In the third year, the plant is mounded and then produces great shoots for 8-10 years. Harvesting takes place until May, as the plants then need to gather strength again.
